Andrew Johnson is a passionate and precise guitarist well known in the Greater Philadelphia area. He has received his Bachelors of Art as a Classical Guitar Performance Major and Jazz Minor at West Chester University. While at WCU he studied under the guidance of Grammy Award Winning Guitarist David Cullen, who is a frequent guitarist at the Kimmel Center's Philly Pops. Andrew is now in LA to pursue a masters degree at CalArts and teach.
Mr. Johnson is a professional educator with a collective 6 years of experience teaching numerous genres of music such as classical, jazz, latin, funk, r&b and pop. Andrew has the ability to teach guitar, piano, bass, drums and ukulele to all age ranges. He believes that learning to play an Instrument helps build fundamental skills such as multitasking, discipline, focus, motivation, dedication and accountability. He has full confidence that whether you are a child, teenager or adult it can be a fun, thrilling and rewarding experience.
Andrew guides his lessons in a way that contributes to intrinsic motivation and student ownership of learning by providing choice and guidance in course of study. Flexible and dynamic curriculum built around the fundamentals of single-line melodies, chords and rhythm. He has earned his reputation amongst his students and parents as a patient, kind and personable teacher. Andrew strives to make each lesson challenging and enjoyable in a way that is fully focused on student-centered instruction.
Andrew is a percussionist, pianist, and engineer who performs and writes music primarily in pop, and electronic styles. He moved to Los Angeles following his studies at Capital University where he earned a Bachelor's of Music.
He is passionate about music and enjoys teaching with the goal of instilling a passion and appreciation in his students. Taking piano and drum lessons at a young age, Andrew eventually gravitated towards mallet percussion instruments. He often performs with various electronic MIDI percussion instruments including an electric xylophone and various synthesizers.
Combining his abilities as an instrumentalist and engineer, he produces and performs a wide variety of music from jazz to electronic dance music.c
Hélene Choyer is a pianist and composer from France. She earned a Master from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, a bachelor in piano performance from the International conservatory of Music and a bachelor of Musicology from La Sorbonne University.
As a concert pianist, she likes to perform works from very various repertoires and had a lot of different influences growing up : classical music, jazz, electronic production and music of West Africa, where she partly grew up. She is proud to have earned several first national awards in France. Always passionate about teaching, she loves to adapt her method to each student to find the best way to enjoy learning music. She uses her experiences in music history, theory, orchestra and choir conducting, and life to help her students understand and love music.
She currently works as a performer, a teacher, an orchestrator and a composer.
